17.Projects for pre - election campaigns
1. Interteka EPuS Zrenjanin
The aim of this project is to make the Internet
technology available for the citizens of Zrenjanin as a wide-ranged and
unlimited source of information. The unfavorable economic situation in
the country and a relatively small number of computers in private homes
make it difficult for citizens, pupils, students and intellectuals to
be acquainted with the contemporary information concerning science, culture
and other fields.
Here the young people are able to work on
WEB publishing and they are encouraged to be open towards the world and
to show their creativeness.
A library is also being founded comprising
books and magazines from different fields: computer technology, science,
culture and politics. There will be also the magazines in the languages
of the national minorities living in Banat. In its later phase, the library
will sell books and magazines for lower prices than in bookshops.
"Interteka EmiS" was founded thanks
to the Fund for open society, which donated computer equipment to the
Local council of the EMiS.

2. The Banat Studies
The purpose of this project is to show to
the contemporaries the contribution of all the national communities, which
lived in the region, and of all the people, whose ancestors made together
a very fertile soil where there was once a swamp and barren land.
The possibility to obtain the information
on the multicultural life is offered in the well preserved local newspapers
in German, Hungarian and Serbian which were published in the second half
of the 19th century.
The multinational region of Veliki Beckerek
kept its identity and national traits regardless the different political
influence. In the course of history people mutually accepted new aspirations,
technological and economical demands as well as the new customs of modern
life.
The
town with the name in three languages, Gross-Nagy-Veliki (big) Beckerek
has the characteristics of "ethnic society", sometimes with
an imposed ethnic rivarly, sometimes with a tolerance, as a result of
nearly the same proportion of the three most numerous national communities
at the end of the 19th century. Work and gain suppressed serious national
conflicts which have been a common trait of the region ever since.
Inter-ethnic marriages were not rare here
and speaking more languages was usual. Some national customs slowly disappeared
under the influence of the urban culture, which tried to equalize everybody.
Beside
Serbian, German and Hungarian national communities, numerous other communities
settled down, with their lives and cultures overlapping, which provoked
the competition in many spheres of life. The competition was in everything,
even in construction, so the buildings put up at that time are still attractive
by their beauty.

This project is being realized
together with the Fund for open society, it deals with the usage of local culture and historic heritage.

3. ALT-NET (The Humanitarian
aid distribution in Zrenjanin)
The project is realizing in co-operation
with Maltese caritative organization and G17 PLUS from Zrenjanin. At this
moment distribution of food parcels is on program. The project is donated
by IRD (International Relief and Develpment organization).

This is a Regional Internet Information
Service for Romanian-Serbian NGOs, aimed to inter- and crossborder information
exchange and strenghtening NGO sector in both country. Romanian partner
is Euroregional Center for Democracy.
Democracy on line – program is still active and NGOs can be found on web address: www.regionalnet.org .

5. Psychophysical preparing
for painless birth
This project predicts pregnant women treatment
in different period of their pregnancy. The project emphasises:
- hygiene,
nutrition and pregnancy maintance counseling
- proper breath and general physical training
The professional part of the project realization
is managed by European Movement experts (a psycologist and a gynecologist).

6. Spiritual Music
Tolerance and particular music tendencies
of different religions of Banat are the aims of this project. A choirs that neuter spiritual music are as follows Serbian, Slovak, Hungarinan and Romanian.

7. Informative Center for
small and medium firms and shops
This center was formed to offer services
for the General Association of private businessmen in the domain of information,
Internet presentations and business in general. It is mutual orgaizational
unit of Association and EMiS local council. The center is intended to
join the businessmen of different regions in order to improve the idea
of private businesses and thus the "Zrenjanin initiative".
Based on this initiative an Agency for development of SMEs and Entrepreneurship www.mspzr.co.yu was founded, and our organization was one of the founders. After the period of four years, this Agency grew in to Regional Centre for socio economic development www.rcrbanat.co.yu . The founders of this Agency are 19 municipalities from Banat region, as well as eminent firms and NGOs from Banat.

8. NGO center - European
Movement in Serbia Regional Office for Vojvodina
The aim is to create a united platform for
the activities of the non-profiteering sector in the region, and this
Project foresees forming of the NGO centre that would serve the whole
sector organisationally, technically and administratively. This would
enable more rational and efficient use of specific knowledge and equipment
that is already in our NGO. Through additional investment, foreseen by
the project, would form a united performance front of the civilian sector
of the region, with the ambition of its development into NGO for Banat
or Vojvodina if required, and it would be aimed to Romanian and Hungarian
partners in the Euroregion Danube-Tisza-Karas-Maros.
Based on the initiative of EMinS Zrenjanin in 2002. this project came to life through establishment of offices for NGOs in Zrenjanin in Makedonska 11 Street. By this, conditions were made for our project to emerge and become an NGO named NGO CENTRE that was founded in December 2003. www.nvocentar.co.yu

This project is meant to be a modern, informative
site, which will use all the advantages of Internet in presentation of
our town and the region of Banat. We present our town in a most affirmative
way underlining all its favorable sides which make Zrenjanin a historic,
geographic, cultural and, hopefully very soon, an economic part of Europe.
Municipality of Zrenjanin took over this domain as its official web portal of the Municipality of Zrenjanin where the latest news and data about Zrenjanin can be seen, and they can be seen on www.zrenjanin.org.yu .

10. The communication zone
- The open weekend school
Formal system of education offered by the
educational institutions in our country can not meet all demands and needs
for contemporary education. This makes conflict between formal system
of education and personal needs of the gifted pupils, which are not taken
into account by the system.
This problem can be solved by organizing
an open weekend school in Zrenjanin. The idea is to fill the existing
gap in the education of gifted children which appears during their regular
schooling. This communication zone is intended for gifted pupils, aged
17-19, who would be taught by local specialists and experts.
This project is aimed to:

This will be realized through:
- consciousness
development of taking active part in society
- developing of the critical thinking
- developing of the active relation of attendants
to the learning
- developing of the multiculturality
- qualifying in finding the relevant information

11. NGO-NET
This project describes how to link the towns
by Internet and the most important thing is that this capacity can be
used for radio and TV signal transmission in over the whole region potentially
independent media.
This part of the project was realized tfrough project Democracy on line, and the other part of the project was realized through the project NGO Centre.
[begin»»] 13. Towards Peace, Tolerance,
Solidarity and Creativeness
This project is intended to support and
keep the idea of accepting the differences, peace, tolerance, solidarity
and creativeness of the young people. The project will be realized by
painting a mural by a group of young artists who had a certain international
success.
This project became traditional and it is conducted every year on the Day of Europe with manifestations "Children drow their vision of Europe", "Musicians play" and with exibit of Etno works.

14. Towards Europe – A School of Democracy
Municipal Council of Zrenjanin Municipality initiated the forming of Students parliament on the Municipality level which would be consited of representatives of all High Schools in Zrenjanin, as well as of representatives of Students hostel. Within the group of representatives of student unions we have gathered the data about their interests in participation within students union, as well as for their need in practice and knowledge needed for succesful work.
Based on gathered information we have concluded that these young people need education that will develope their democratic knowldedge and crafts.
The project «Towards Europe – A School of Democracy» that we have conducted las year, was created to fulfill their needs.
Expected results of the project are as follows:
- A large number of members of student parliaments educated for democratic activity and use of knowledge that they have got trough this workshops in work of student parliaments of high schools and in Student Parliaments on Community level and their active communication with local self government.
- Except that, we expect development of motivation for enriching knowledge and transfer of knowledge in preparations of gained knowledge between high school children.
The project lasted for 6 months and 45 students from 9 high schools finished education.
This project was financed by the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina – Secretariat for youth and sport and Municipality of Zrenjanin.
  
[begin»»] 15. Banat Cross-Border Dialogue
The main purpose of the project is:
- education of citizens, cooperation between citizens, civil organizations and local governments,
- introducing citizens with possibilities of civic initiatives and their rights
- strengthening of civil society organizations through capacity building as well as development of NGO network in Banat Region.
Goals of the project are as follows:
- To introduce the citizens with possibilities of civic initiatives
- to rise awareness and knowledge about democracy, civic initiatives, as well as the legal possibilities of the law of local self-government
- to improve the dialogue between citizens and local self-government
Representatives from Local governments and nongovernmental organizations from 10 municipalities were engaged in the project. 200 participants finished education from following municipalities: Zrenjanin, Kikinda, Pancevo, Vrsac, Novi Becej, Zitiste, Secanj, Novi Knezevac, Perlez, Kovin.
Partners on the project were NGO Centre Zrenjanin and Centre for free elections and democracy (CeSiD) - Zrenjanin.
This project was financially supported by Balkan Trust for Democracy (BTD).
   
[begin»»] 16. With Education towards Employment
Goals of the project are as follows:
- Development of the society that creates equal opportunities for economic success and social welfare for its citizens who are socially jeopardized.
- Reduction of the poverty, securing of social stability and equal opportunity for all people in the region
Specific aim of the action:
- Reduction of endangerment, social alienation and poverty of target groups through improvement of their abilities
Target group of this project are children residents in the Municipality of Zrenjanin whose families or themselves use social services (children without parents and parental care, young offenders and families provided for by social services) with accent on roman children and refugees.
100 children without parental care and children from social jeopardized families were included in this project, age 7 to 17. Education that they went through is as follows:
- Computer courses – children were given a chance to chose what kind of education they need ( starting with basics, through business correspondence to computer games programming and web presentations).
- Psychological workshops for strengthening of self-confidence – children learned through these workshops how to believe in themselves, as well as how to help themselves and others. Psychologists and sociologists from Social Work centre Zrenjanin were working with them.
Entrepreneurship education
– Children gained knowledge about what it means to be a successful entrepreneur as well as how to become one.
– Education was conducted by teachers from Economic High School Jovan Trajkovic. who are engaged in program Junior Achievement.
Partners of the project are: Economic High School Jovan Trajkovic and Social Work Centre Zrenanjin.
This project was financed by European Union, conducted by European Agency for Reconstruction through Regional Socio-economic development Fund (RSEDP).

17. Projects for pre - election campaigns
- VOTE AND ROCK THE BOAT
Pre-election campaign for young people "VOTE AND ROCK THE BOAT" within which were shared caps, t-shirts, leaflets, stickers, pencils, balloons, posters etc.
- Let's talk about democracy
Public tribunes for rare elections conducted in 2001. "LET'S TALK ABOUT DEMOCRACY" were organized within this project.
- A Forum Of Candidates
Presentation of political candidates to citizens in pre election process.
